Even without Covid, life at up to 5000 meters in the Peruvian Andes is already an extreme challenge. The approximately 150,000 people in the Andahuaylas region already lack basic services such as food and medical supplies. Domestic violence against girls and women is 79%.
The now more than 30 volunteers from the Casa Yohana Foundation have been working tirelessly since 2018 to look after local families. This is only possible with external financial support. We are happy to be able to support our foster family since last year and with this interview we would like to give you an insight into life in the Peruvian highlands.
