Fujitsu opens Digital Transformation Center in Munich _

[ The digital transformation, the change of growing the importance of technologies, affects us all.

Die Digital technologies and the opportunities created by digitization are evolving rapidly. The Japanese technology group Fujitsu – whose product and service focus is on information technology, telecommunications, semiconductors and networks – has now reacted to this development and opens the so-called Digital Transformation Center, an Industry 4.0 competence center, in Munich.

The center provides a platform where different experts can come together and translate their expertise in the creative exchange process into new ideas, digital strategies and concrete plans. Together with its customers, the Asian IT giant wants to develop innovative solutions for tomorrow's digital workplaces and processes.

"Particularly in the SME sector and in the context of Industry 4.0, the bundling of competencies across company boundaries – so-called co-creating – will be in increasing demand in the future. With our co-creating program, we empower companies to identify and actively engage in new opportunities rather than passively and reactively tracking developments." explains Rolf Werner, CEO of Germany and Head of Central Europe of Fujitsu.

But how does the co-development of innovative solutions in Fujitsu's DTC work in detail?

Duncan Tait, senior vice president and responsible for Fujitsu's business in the Americas and EMEIA, said it was about gaining intimate insight into customers' business, articulating issues to be resolved from the point of view of the employees and the company, and then jointly developing new solutions to work on, which are usually underlaid, but this must not be under all circumstances. It is also possible to involve third parties in addition to the representatives of the customer and Fujitsu, if this makes sense for dealing with the topics.

So far, centers of this kind were only in use in Japan. With the opening of the new DTC, Fujitsu continues to expand its co-creating program for faster digital transformation. From June, the Munich Competence Center – in close cooperation with IoT experts from Japan – is to coordinate the work of around 300 experts.

While Barcelona is considered Europe's mobile capital, Munich is increasingly becoming the European capital for Industry 4.0 and IoT (Internet of Things).

With Fujitsu, another group chooses Munich as the headquarters for its Industry 4.0 efforts in Europe. The company is in good company, with companies such as Microsoft, IBM Watson IoT, Accenture IIoT Innovation Center and Huawei already having selected the Bavarian capital as the center for their European IoT and Industry 4.0 activities. ]
